Wayne's Story

1 Corinthians 13:4  Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up

A funeral was recently held in our church for a man who passed away unexpectedly.  I knew him as a quiet man in church, but I did not know him on a personal level, but wow!!

When the night of family visitation for the deceased's family came, I went to where the visitation was being held.  As I approached, there were so many cars already there, that there was no place to park.  After several passes through the parking lot, I was finally able to park.

But as I looked toward the building, the line to get in wrapped around the building.  Scheduled for 6:00 - 8:00 pm, the visitation was not over until around 9:30 pm.  There were just so many people that came to honor this man, that it made me curious.

Then, the next day, as the funeral was being held, it became apparent why there were so many people there on the previous night.  As time for the funeral approached, again, many, many people began to fill the church.  Almost to capacity.  Again, wow!!

As the pastor began to speak about some of what this man had done through is life, we found that he was a man of love for others, helping many neighbors without being asked, unselfish in the use of his talents to help others.

Then, two son-in-laws spoke of how he had treated them, not as in-laws, but as family.

Wow, what a testimony!!  What a legacy to leave.  Teaching others how to love as Jesus loved.  Not judging, just loving.

Now the question to you is, "How will you be remembered when you are gone from this earth?  Will you leave such a legacy?

It's never too late to love, to help a neighbor, to show your love to a stranger or even your own family.  The challenge is yours.
