I hope everyone has been doing well.

We live in Southwest Randolph County, actually, we're right off Hwy 49.

We go to my mom's house every weekend and she lives in North Asheboro.

After visiting awhile I decided that I had better run up to the gas station. My mom asked me if I had watched the news that morning. I told her no. Evidently, the two gas stations up the road had cut their prices for fuel. I didn't really think much about it. How much could it be? 10 cents? 20 cents?

As the gas station came into view, I noticed a line of cars at the pumps. I looked to my left at the back parking lot. A line of cars were there with two ladies directing traffic to the gas station. I looked at the $3.59 per gallon sign. My eyes about bugged out of my head!

But my fuel gage was below the red line and quivering!

I had to make a quick decision.

Do I potentially save money at the pump or do I chance it entirely and go down the road? I knew idling in line would suck out the little fumes that were there so I decided to go on.

As I rode by, I remembered that this gas station did not accept credit or debit cards-only cash. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the employees that were directing patrons to the pumps. The "cash only" signs are on the pumps. I can only imagine what kind of responses the employees heard once some realized that after waiting in line.

I didn't watch the news that morning. I can only suppose that the reporter gave the "cash only" information. I wonder how many other people didn't watch the news?

You know what's crazy?? I actually entertained the thought of possibly being stranded to save some money! I only had $6.90 for gas! I had six golden dollars, three quarters, a dime and a nickel! My hand started to sweat with all of money in it!

I smiled. Boy, I couldn't wait to spend it so I could say that I saved it!

You know that's kind of how faith can be. We spend a little bit here. We save a little bit there. We ration it out. Faith goes beyond what our eyes can see.

I'll admit that I didn't want to wait. I was hot. I couldn't turn the air on. I was desperately hoping that my little Neon would make it one more mile.

Sometimes what appears as a flashing neon sign with a huge arrow blinking "Stop Here" is not the right one. I'm learning daily that I can close my eyes to the neon signs of this world. I can drive on past.

If God says to stay the course then I know the arrival at His destination for me will be wonderful.

The best thing going in these tough economic times for us is that our country is free! It is the gift of the Savior. Take Him up on it today.

Then we can sit together in heaven and rejoice about how we got the "best deal" out of this world!

Have a great week!
