Hey Y'all! Welcome to my corner! I hope everyone has had a good week.
Every morning I get the same question from my daughter, "How many more days of school left, Mama?" She can't wait to be out for the summer!
We really like going to the pool in the summer. We always have to play it by ear because of those evening storms that seem to pop up out of nowhere. You can make plans, pack up EVERYTHING and BAM! You see the storms on the horizon.
Sometimes as the smaller storms are passing, you can see the sun trying to peak its way through. The other day on the ride home was such a day. One side of the sky was still a little dark but just to the right of that dark patch was a big, white, fluffy cloud with the sun peaking behind it. The glow of the sun had lined the edges of that big cloud. Sarah, my 8-year old daughter, was watching the sky. She's a little scared of storms.
She gladly pointed it out. She said, "Mama, I bet that big cloud is where God lives today." I asked her why she thought that. She explained to me that it was the only one where the sun was trying to break through. She went on to say that she thought that rain was really God crying. I didn't say a word because I just had to hear where she was going with this sudden revelation of hers.
Her voice got louder. "Mama, I just KNOW that is where He lives today. "How do you just KNOW for sure,Sarah?" I asked. The answer was simple. "The yellow part around the cloud Mama, God is smiling!" "It's gonna be a sunny day after all!"
Sometimes big, ominous clouds come my way and it seems that there are no smiles around it, in it, ahead of it or behind it. Just sad rain. And then all of a sudden, God reveals a "smile." A call to my heart that speaks, "I was here behind it, watching over and around you."
The word of God tells us that God's eyes run to and fro about the earth. He never slumbers. He is the ultimate, consistent weatherman! I know for me personally when I'm weathering a storm it can make me feel inadequate, fearful and unqualified to handle it. I forget the bigger force behind it. I eventually can see the "smile". Sarah saw it immediately. What faith!
I guess what I am trying to say here is He has a reason for pop-up thunderstorms. We may not feel qualified to handle them in the moment but we need remember that God doesn't call the qualified-He qualifies the called.
Our family is going to the beach in two more weeks! My children have only seen the ocean one other time. I can't wait to see what the weather will be!
Have a blessed week! Thanks for sitting in my corner!
