Well, Hey Y'all! Welcome to my corner!
For those of you that have not read the "Bio" sot of this website, let me introduce myself. My name is Carmen Halloran. I married my husband, Tim, in 1994. We have two precious children, Tyler and Sarah, and live in Asheboro, NC.
I grew up in the big metropolis of Robbins, NC. We had two stoplights, a lot of beauty shops, and a lot of churches. Everyone was often grumpy on Sunday morning but Boy did they look pretty!
It was a wonderful small town to grow up in. It's funny; you don't appreciate the "closeness" of things until you move away from them. Just the other day, my 8 year old daughter Sarah and I were at the grocery store. On the way to the car, we ran into a teacher from her school. She said that my daughter had been a blessing to her and went on to make me the proudest mama in the world!
The teacher told me that on this particular day she had been in a hurried frame of mind all day long. She was finishing her rounds that afternoon when she peeked into the afterschool daycare program. She opened the door to find a room full of happy, loud children. She looked around the room reflecting on the noise and chaos. Then she noticed Sarah.
Sarah was sitting at the table quietly with her back to the class smiling from ear to ear reading her bible. Quiet, happy and looking very satisfied with her surroundings.
It was a gentle reminder to the teacher that she had been in too much of a hurry. She had momentarily lost the "closeness" of the One who loves her the most. I've come to realize(and I have to be reminded often)that in this fast-paced life there is always one unfailing, gentle whisper in mankind's ear.
He is constantly sending out reminders for us to pay attention and be still in Him. The next time you're running so fast that you can't even tell where youv'e been-STOP. Take a deep breath, a long look around and remember the One who loves YOU the most.
Well, thank you all for letting me bend your ear. I hope y'alll will come back soon. Have a Blessed Day!
