Hey Y'all! Welcome to my corner. I hope everyone has been well.
I didn't set my clock on Sunday night. Fox 8 and my Mom had convinced me that the snow was going to come no matter what. At 7am, I heard the shade roll up and a sweet little voice say, "Wow! It really did snow!"
Sarah was up and running. It takes me about 5 minutes to make a cup of coffee. As I made my way to the couch there sat a smiling face with her p.j.s' stuck down in her boots and a coat on. I sat down and took a sip of coffee. "So Mama, how's that cup of coffee?", my baby girl chimes. "It's good, sweetie." "So Mama, how many cups are you gonna drink?" "Just one, Baby." BIG, big grin.
It's now 7:40 am. I tell her that we will go out at 10:00. BIG Pout. I do a few things in the house while she sighs and looks out the window. My mind takes me back to when I was 9 years old. I had to wait on my older sisters to take me out to play in the snow. I was always so scared it would melt away.
That was it. Time to go out and play!
It was 8:50 am. We had so much fun. Sarah made snow angels. We walked around to the front yard. The sunlight was beautiful against the snow. The clouds were peacefully rolling out to reveal a beautiful blue sky. As I approached the patio, my eye caught a glimpse of green peeking out from the snow. It was my tulips. I planted them when we first moved into the house. Sarah was 3 years old. She helped me. Well, as much as a toddler could.
I remember showing her the bulbs. She said the same thing over and over. "Not Flowers, Mommy dose onions!" The bulbs looked like onions to her. When the tulips came up Sarah was so amazed.
Her little eyes could only see onions. Have you ever looked at a bulb? They have layers. They are a dull brown. They smell like dirt. If the bulb is planted deep in the ground then it has a good root system. It may withstand the test of snow.
First Corinthians 10:13 speaks of having temptations. The word temptations can also mean tests or trials. God says He will provide an escape for us.
What's this got to do with a 3 year olds' perception, an onion and a tulip? I had forgotten that those tulips had ever been planted. Seeing them pushing through the snow reminded me of that verse. The flower was rooted deep in the soil. It withstood the test of wind, rain or snow.
If you haven't gone through a test or trial lately or just come out of one then I've got some news for you. GET READY! It's coming. Don't lay hidden in the midst of it without God's Word hidden in your heart. Grow some roots in the Word so you'll be ready. You'll come out smelling like a rose- I mean a tulip!
Have a blessed week.
